Welcome to the Internet2 Commons Portal

The Commons is a framework for collaboration throughout the research and education community that will encourage interactive communication through large scale deployment of tools for one-to-one, one-to-group, and group-to-group collaborations. The services provided by The Commons will be available to Internet2 members, Abilene participants, and their international counterparts.

The purpose of this Commons Portal includes:

• up-to-date information on Commons news and events
• training links and material for end users and site coordinators
• access to papers, presentations, and related projects
• community through membership and discussion forums

A brief introduction to the portal can be found in Using The Commons Portal. You can personalize the portal and participate in the discussion groups by creating an account. Membership is not necessary if you only want to read the material.

The Commons has been a partnership between Internet2 and ViDe with hardware hosted by Ohio State, OARNet, and CIC with RadVision and Accord providing MCU capacity. From the onset the Internet2 Commons will be developed in coordination with international partners to ensure global reach of the collaboration environment.
